Chocoland Cookie Felt Plush Pin
Getting back on the crafty track wasn't too easy for me as I have a full-time day job as a community clinic pharmacist. Ah... adulting is not easy. I remember striving to end my studies so that I could free myself from headache-inducing assignments and millions of notes and diagrams to remember, only to find myself longing for those long semester breaks that were solely spent on unleashing creative energy that resulted pleasantly in amazing handmade creations (even if I do say so myself๐ ). Now, I'm hoping to get back into that motivated mode that was purely driven by the passion to transform ideas into real stuff.
Ah well. That mode did appear some once in every 2 to 3 years or so๐ญ๐ .... And so I made this:

A Crafty Comeback!
Hi guys!
I've been on a long long hiatus. My last post was 2 years ago! @.@ I'm really sorry but it couldn't be helped. I finished my training and now am a fully-registered pharmacist! Because the day job consumes most of my time, I hardly ever do any crafting. But the past Chinese New Year blessed me with 4 days of blissful free-time, and so I decided that I've put off crafting long enough.
Crafting materials are of abundance, the result of several years of swapping and hoarding. It truly surprised me how much this hobby had grown, how rewarding the reaps were and how deep a passion I still have for it. Though a dream, I still hope that one day, I'll be sitting in a little shop of my own, making things with my hands and be really happy. :)
As of now, let's look at the goodies I made for CNY!
I started off with this pin brooch here. The bag of felt scraps had gotten too full, and I was in need of something really sweet! I really love the pearls and gold beads; they make things look princess-y and oh so sweet!
And then I proceeded with a 2nd brooch, still with a theme of candy and cakes. After putting on the last piece of embellishment, I declare UHU a crafter's best friend! XD
And finally, I made something I've always wanted to make; a colour-block pin with dangly chains. There's something about the combination of primary colours that makes your eyes smile and heart all warm. :P
That's all I've to share with you for now. I'm not sure when I'll be able to craft again, as work will be starting in a few day's time. Working 8 to 5, 5 days a week is no joke. And I just realised, my chat box has become an advertising space for anyone on the planet. -____-" Pls, spare me, dear people. Only promote your handmade items, or kawaii-related things. If I look up a blog on 'kawaii', I wouldn't click on "100 types of padlocks for your home". -____-"
Right. That's all for now. Hope to post more stuff soon. Tata!

Preparations for Pipit's 3rd Anniversary Market
The past Saturday, I participated in a local designers' market. It was organized by Pipit, and the market was in conjunction with its 3rd anniversary celebration. Upon a last minute's thought, I decided to try out selling again. With only two weeks for preparations, I whipped up some Kawaii~neh!'s staples - sweets! :P
{ Almost life-sized doughnuts. Ribbon bows were added for extra sweetness. }
{ Christmas tree cookies + gingerbread man and teddy }
{ Ice cream cones + ice lollies }
{ Chocolate caramel + strawberry cream pudding plushies }
{ Demure little bride felt cake ♥ }
{ Ultra-loaded fruit cake~! }
Wanting to make something kawaii other than food, I tried animal head plushies. Started off with a bunny. And then a teddy. And then a chicken. And finally a birdie. Then I remade each one of them in different colours.
{ Kawaii~neh! }
Most have not found their owners. I've listed them in my Etsy shop. Hop over and have a look. :)

Just to let you guys know again, I'll be at the Taman Layang-layang Kepong this afternoon as well as tomorrow afternoon to carry out the weight loss survey on the public. Do drop by if you live just a few minutes' walk away and if you're free then. :) My friend and I would greatly appreciate everyone's participation.
After the Singapore trip 2 weeks ago, I came back to KL with head full of what I'd seen. Somehow, ideas just began popping out of nowhere. So I took out a bag of scrap felt, piles of new felt pieces and beads, and started a crafting marathon.
{ I began with this pin brooch on the first day. The speech bubble says ใใใใ 'kawaii'. }
{ I made this next, on the second day. Glad that it turned out pretty. :P The faux pearls all around the edges just add to the overflowing sweetness. :P Speech bubble says ใใถใผใ, which I gather from the online translator means 'dessert'. }
{ I made this one on the night of the 2nd day. It's really CUTE, even if I say so myself. :P The base of the pin is salmon pink, and there's a pink organza ribbon bow sewn onto the back of the baby elephant. SO CUTE!!! }
{ This took the whole of Day 3 to make, because two pesky kids came to my place so I had to babysit. -___-" If you noted, I used the polka-dotted fabric button bought in Singapore. }
{ This was done on morning of Day 4. I wanted to put either 'shooting star' in words, but then it came out too long. So I typed 'pretty' into the online translator, and ใใชใ came out. I'm not sure if it's correct. I think it's 'kiirei'? }
{ Made on Day 5 I think. *lost track* If you look at it carefully, you'll notice that I didn't sew the edges of the bunny. I used super glue to seal the felt edges so that it's hard and doesn't fray, and I glued it onto the red circle base. }
{ The same technique goes here. CUTE Mr. Squeeks in love. :D }
So there you go. By the end of last week, I had these sitting in my drawer. Take a look at my Etsy shop if you'd like to have them. :D

Holiday Crafty Progress
Crafting hasn't been put to a stop yet. :P I'm just too occupied with other things to blog about any of them. What with my sister and brother (and his wife) coming back, the house is like a mini camp place jammed with human beings. Adding to the jumble are a number of dinners and lunches, which my parents forced us kids to attend. I just couldn't find time to sit down and write a proper post for the blog. Go-men-ah-sai. ^-^" Bi-yahn-neh.
So, a couple of days ago, I received a request for these felt pin brooches :
{ These took me 2 days to make, a total of more than 8 hours I think. }
There are altogether 2 different colours. I ran out ideas as to how to decorate them, hence the repetitive designs. ^-^"
Well, I'm planning to make more felt cakes this time. :) I started with a rectangular one here :
{ Laced-up chocolate cake with strawberries and cream. }
{ Pretty lacey pattern }
{ Dad trying to steal the cake. XD It's his birthday today! :D When he couldn't eat it, he asked for KFC instead. XD}

Art For Grabs May 2009 : Part One
Fuuhh... The weekend passed by in a flash. There wasn't any time to think. Before going on to share with you the whole craft-fair experience, let's first take a look at some of the things that I whipped up fresh for the event.
{ Fruit Salad plushies with a lobster clasp for hanging }
{ Little Cloud plushie cellphone straps }
{ Yummy felt donut pin brooches ♥ }
{ Strawberry pins! :D }
{ Purteh cupcake felt pin ♥ }
{ Wooden map pendant necklaces }
{ More map necklaces. The silvery yo-yos are actually made from a folded umbrella cover. :D}
{ Woodland & wilderness creatures printed -manually- on map circles, laminated and with a pin-back stuck on. Mid-way through the first day, we found out that the pin-back could actually be prised off with just a delicate nudge. Omg. T-T So teruk! Tak wat quality control before putting them up! T-T But then I did test them after a day of completing the making, and they were fine then. I guess mixing G17 and Bostik Super Glue wasn't a good idea after all. T-T.
Later, we used only G17, and it proved to be an excellent bonding agent for plastic and metal. }
{ Polymer Clay cookies. Took a whole day to make them. ^-^" But I'm really satisfied with how they turned out. Sequence of making : green, blue, pink and lastly orange. The pink was a second one I made - the first one got burnt on the underside... T-T }
{ Fruiteh Candy Cookies ♥ }
{ Chocolate Sweetheart Cookies ♥ }
{ Made them into necklaces }
{ Juicy Lollies necklaces ♥ }
Hokay. There are still some pieces left from the fair. I'll be putting them up in the shop some time this week. The laptop's running like a 100-year-old lady with a sack of potatoes. -_-" Am planning to complete blog entries today.

Bright Blues + Rainbow Sprinkles
I think I've been officially infected by the abondon-blog-bug. T-T Oh, there are lots of things I'd love to share with you, but I need to wait for the right time before I can expose it all on my blog. :P
Since the start of hols last weekend, I've been busy with crafting. First things first. I completed a custom order requested by a customer on Etsy. She requested a bright blue cookie with strawberries, lollipops, swirled sticks, cookies, colourful little balls and lots of hearts.
{ Kawaii~neh! Sugar-Honey Cookieland in bright BLUE! }
I didn't know a bright blue cookie base would make me so happy. XD Really, the colour brought life to the cookie. When I was done making, I thought I didn't quite like the arrangement of the sweets on top. But the more I look at it, I find myself starting to really like it.
After the cookie, the customer requested a plush cupcake with a strawberry on top and different coloured sprinkles.
{ Halo Mr. Cupcake. You look very happy today. :P }
{ Fat strawberry in the center surrounded by rainbow sprinkles }
I'm not sure if I like it. Though the rainbow colours certainly worked for me, I think the sprinkles look a little odd, being the size that they are. Nevertheless, the customer loved it and that's all that matters. XD
Other than those two orders, I'm spending most of the time making more stuff for my shop.
Shall stop here for now. Have a nice weekend. :)

Oat & Prune Slices + Project Wedding Cake Topper
Bro's big day is drawing near. And that can be seen by the number of relatives filling our home this afternoon. -_-" Phew... Banyak tak terhingga.
Made oat and prune crumble slices :
{ Absolutely yummy crumble slice }
To make crumble, beat 1 cup of firmly packed brown sugar with 200g soften butter, and then add 2 cups plain flour sifted, 2 cups rolled oats and 1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda. Mix until mixture begins to resemble soft crumbs. To make the prune filling, soak 3 cups of chopped prunes and 1/3 cup of sugar in 1 cup of water, add lemon rinds if you like, and simmer the mixutre over low heat allowing the prunes to absorb water, until very little liquid is left. To assemble, press half the crumble mixture into a baking pan, and the spreading the prune mixture on that, and topping it of by sprinkling the rest of the crumble. Bake the crumble at 170°C for about 30 minutes, or until the top has browned.
A very simple recipe for a healthy yummy treat. :)
I was inspired after seeing this gorgeous cake topper made by emiliefriday. It looks absolutely cute, with those soft pastel colours and dainty little flowers. I wanted to re-create a similar one, but didn't have the required materials unfortunately. I tried making do with whatever I could find.
{ Excuse my horrifyingly messy table }
I took two rolls of sticky tape bases (with the tape finished), wrapped them with purple ribbons to give them a striped effect, wrapped some fake flowers (which were found in abundance as a result of countless wedding dinners that my parents attended) and stuck the whole thing on a cake plate.
Then an idea suddenly struck, and the next thing I knew, I was squeezing caulk like crazy all around the cake base. I stuck those paper clay hearts I made the other day, and then drizzled on shiny little purple sequins. Finally, two felt birds and a heart that I sewed were place atop the piece on wire stalks.
I'm not sure if it looks good, because the fake flowers are actually very very old already, having been tucked away in an old biscuit tin for years. Hence the faded look. But after showing the finished piece to my sister-in-law-to-be, I'm glad to say that she actually loved it. :P I was kind of apprehensive about showing it to her in the first place because aside the generally looking a little too vintage, the fake cream droplets sort of looked a little too messy to me. Well, it's a relief to gain even more confidence that my crafty works appeal to local people too. :P
{ Love bids amongst creams, hearts and flowers }
I'm still undecided about this piece, although I've got confirmation from both my brother and his fiance. I may alter it before the wedding. I'd be very grateful if you could share experiences you had with making a cake topper or if you've seen beautiful ones or any suggestions you think would improve this one. :)
Oh, and Merry Christmas to all you lovely readers! Kawaii~neh! loves you!

Feeling Disoriented and Unsettled
End of hols is drawing near. Over the past few days, things kept popping up - I had to go for a dental checkup and a hair-cut, run errands for mum, help dad print loads of photos as well as send emails, and do some stuff for my brother's wedding.
Speaking of the wedding, it'll be held on the 27th this month. And I've booked a seat on a flight back to KL the next day at 9.25 in the morning! Gah! I didn't know 29th is a public holiday, or I'd have definitely bought a ticket to go back on that day. Yeah I'm ignorant.
I didn't do much crafting. It's not because there's no time. It's not because of lack of ideas either. It's because I'm just plain lazy to set work on an idea, be it a sudden thought of a design or a project planned in my head long ago. I don't know what's gotten over me. I find nothing more exciting than to sit in front of the laptop or laze about the house all day. T-T I haven't even finished reading one book since I got back. My holiday to-do-list actually comprised of : learning Japanese online here, getting a make-over for the blog and learning html-ing a blog's layout *with that polished look - frames for sidebars, borders for post bodies and such*. Clearly, none of these were even started on, let alone completed. Gah! I am such a lazy bum!
Okay.... Nuff of pointless whinings... Here are photos of some crafting activities that did take place :
{ Happy Poo Friends Set of Cellphone Straps for a custom order }
{ Little Nature Puffy Cloud Plush Cellphone Charm Straps }
{ Lil sis in full concentration while painting tiny paper clay hearts on my messy table. }
{ *Smile~* }
{ Mmm.... Blood red.... }
